Gallea’s Polynesian Girl

    • Artist:  Valinda Gallea
    • Title:  Polynesian Girl
    • Media:  Acrylic on paper
    • Dimensions:  13.5”x17"
    • Date:  1971
Valinda earned a degree in art from the Art Center of Design. While she was a cultural art director of the Boys and Girls Club in Ventura, she taught art classes and earned an award for a card that was printed and used nationally. Shealso won awards for her paintings, and for decorations for fundraisers and parade floats.

This painting has an antique sort of feel, with the woman’s gaze fixed at a middle distance away from the viewer, and with a softer focus type of airbrushing that is very characteristic of vintage Hawaiiana art from the 1930’s.
